This 4000 SF winter home is conceived as 5 "mono-pitch" pavilions situated to form protected courtyards. Each pavilion serves a different function, great room, kitchen, master bedroom, guest area and garage/mechanical. Each courtyard serves a different function as entry court, outdoor room/living court, private court for guests and service court. The exterior colors vary on each pavilion and reflect the colors of desert rocks and plants. Each pavilion is connected to the land providing informal, living and responding to the desert climate. Care is taken to capture desert breezes and protect against severe sun orientation.
